DPR OF GUWAHATI METRO RAIL SERVICES IS EXPECTED BY THIS OCTOBER

Webdesk, TNI Guwahati, 21st July, 2015: After 2 years from the sanctioning of Guwahati Metro Rail Project in Assam, by the then Central Government, the time has now arrived when the DPR is expected by October this year. A special review meeting on the proposed metro rail project for Guwahati was held at the Chief Minister’s official residence on 3rd May 2015. According to the initial project plan, the first phase of the project will cover a distance of 65 km in Guwahati, connecting the Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International (LGBI) Airport to Narengi in the city and the second phase of the project will cover the stretch between Paltan Bazar to Khanapara area of the city, while the third will cover a stretch between Khanapara area to Jalukbari area of the city. According to the sources the Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi is highly stressing on use of latest technology so that the best service can be provided to commuters. Guwahati Metrorail, if started will definitely give a shot in the arm of North East India’s developmental momentum.
